My intent in this blog is to offer my perspectives , thoughts and observations on life in general, speculation about the future, especially climate change, living in sustainable and resilient communities with a little poetry and photography thrown in for good measure. 

About me, I studied architecture graduating Catholic University with a bachelor of architecture. My studies brought me to the urban landscape and how its plan evolved. Eventually, I realized that I didn’t have the design skills to practice architecture but better understood the built landscapes of the city and suburbs. 

This led to a career spanning four decades dealing with the creation of quality neighborhoods and livable communities. The first decades were based in southern New Jersey and Atlantic City. At one time dealing with the development issues of the casino hotel industry was my major focus. Ultimately I left South Jersey, moving to the city of Maryland Heights in the St. Louis region to become a planning director for that community.

Throughout those years my love of photography emerged. As a member of the St. Louis camera club, the oldest camera club in the country, I was able to hone my skills and bring my imagery to a near professional level.

As I edged toward retirement, life provided me with the joy of grandchildren, professional recognition and unfortunately the survival of a hemorrhagic stroke. Life is changed, but you only have one and a need to live every day regardless of physical disabilities. So the pen has replaced the camera and I spend the majority of my time writing, mostly memoirs and blogs. At times I have been inspired to write a few verses of poetry some of which has been published.
